January 22nd Run Report: VBS in Nankang….Report by Pegleg!!!

Posted on January 30, 2012

Many thanks to Pegleg for providing us with the following report from the CNY EVE Run in Nankang, hared by VBS.

The report is, thankfully, shorter than the run, which was apparently near 13km……

Date: Jan 22

Weather: Crappy

Location: Nankang

Turnout: 20 ish

“Last Sunday’s run: following the Hare VBS’ PRE-MARKING (got that? it was pre-marked) a few K’s pounding the dismally rain-drenched streets of Nankang brought us to some steep and slippery shiggy…

from then on that alternated with stretches of road and some runnable trails…through deserted office complexes and college campuses and quiet communities, getting a cheery new year’s greeting from the odd startled walker as we appeared like wraiths out of the misty rain…

then a long haul back, mostly on road, bit of shiggy, passing the Statue of LIberty (as Dump n Run had promised) to base camp at Nankang Station.

Somebody clocked it at about 13K. Ran most of the way with the returning Split Beaver, who agreed it must have been at least that far. Thanks to the Taiwan Railway Adminstration for the superior washing and changing facilities in the station loos.

Down-downs: #1 SDF; FBI Big Tree’s squeeze ( I think); self-named Lazy Bitch re-christened Diseased Anal Whore or some such; last man in one of Whymigay’s visiting “friends” in a pair of those barefoot running slippers that you wouldn’t catch me dead in (and which had had him slipping on his arse numerous times). The city being under holiday lock-down, all repaired for the bash by bus to some joint on Pa De Lu that the Hare had sussed out.

The Verdict:

7/10 for the run per se – but the pre-marking? which occasionally was as hard to spot as the Higgs Boson. Let’s say 6.5/10 for at least stepping up to do it at CNY.

Official Run Taiwan Score: 6.5/10
