“Weather: Promised by the ‘acting’ trailmaster-Sunny and Clear   Actual-Foggy, Misty…and muddy.

It wasn’t the most picturesque of runs considering the conditions we were given but the terrain was excellent! In fact, this run on a clear day could be a top contender for ‘Best of the year’.

Even though I had a brief hiatus from the hash this combination of road, mud, marsh, fog, red clay, darkness in the jungle, and a dirty mattress made up for the brutal conditions we had to deal with.

The hares, Harddisk and FMD were off exactly on time and shortly after the first check was layed down. It was a bit tricky but after a bit of a scramble, a polite young man declared the trail proceeded in the direction he was heading, so we were all off, chasing him like mad and trying to impress everyone around us by passing as many people as possible before the next check.

From there, the run proceeded to continue slightly up a road and past, you guessed it,  a pig stable. Oh the stench…

The next few checks were a bit of a blur but there was a lot of up and a lot of darkness. And then there was Relax. At one point I thought,

‘What has Relax been doing for the last 6 months’? ‘Is he on steroids’. WTF! He was there the whole run!

After a short while up the winding road and through a bit of forest we reached a beautiful plateau. Covered with red clay that made it difficult to run through, most of the frontrunners were together searching for the next check. The Dutch maestro SDF happened to find this one and we were once again into the beautiful dark jungle. It was this part of the run that many will remember. Quality running trails mixed with steps, not too many and not too steep made this section a favorite of mine.

But the last check was still too come and it was a bugger. We came to a fork in the road with several options of where to go. Most of us knew the approximate direction but couldn’t pinpoint where the flour was. After about 15 minutes of checking every possible piece of land, our saviour, The Godfather discovered the lost trail partially hidden by the old mattress.

It was at this point the run took a direct 50-60m up a muddy hill. If you didn’t get your footing right you were going straight back down. It was also the point where Rocketman, SDF and a few others would distance themselves from the other frontrunners, including The Godfather who, after he reached the top was updating his facebook status.

First man in was Rocketman, followed shortly after by SDF. Relax must have had his best performance on the hash finishing ahead of Gaelle Says No, and yours truly. Truly gotta respect this guy as he takes about 500 photos along the run every week too!! My new role model:)

The Verdict:

Overall, conditions were not ideal,  it would be cracker of a run if it was just a bit drier.”

The Score:

Dave’s Score: 9/10

Bas (SDF): 8.5/10 “truly an awesome run”

Joe (Gaelle Says No): 8.5 : “sloppy fun”

Official Run Taiwan Score:  8.7/10

The Chinese Word from Miss Titties:

Run , Hare “ We Will ,we will Thank you .”
